09/30/08 - MSA National Calls for Voter Registration Drives on Eid
Asalaamualaikum,
MSA National asks MSA members to hold voter registration drives on Eid Day. As part of the MSA National Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaign, many MSA chapters will be holding voter registration drives across the country. We encourage MSA members to join efforts to hold voter registration drives on Eid day.
As many notable scholars have expressed, this period in our country's history presents to us several compelling reasons to partake in the selection of our nation's new leaders. Millions of Americans, many of whom have never voted before, have registered to express their right to vote in what has become an unprecedented election. The Muslim community should not be an exception.
Eid is a time when several million American Muslims shall gather to recognize the end of Ramadan. Let's make this year's Eid the day when we collectively give ourselves a voice in an already diverse American landscape. Let's make this year count!
Below is a list of voter registration deadlines by state. MSA National encourages you to take note of these dates, and to act accordingly. You can pick up registration packets at your local post office or DMV.
