MSA URGES GET-OUT-THE-VOTE & ‘EARLY VOTING' ACROSS U.S.
National College Student Group Tells All U.S. Muslim College Students to Vote
(Washington D.C., 10/29/08) The Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada (MSA National) recently called upon American Muslim college students from across the United States to help ‘Get-Out-The-Vote' (GOTV) on Election Day, November 4, 2008 and also take part in ‘Early Voting' procedures allowed in 31 states across the country.
More thanhalf of the states--31, to be exact--offer some sort of early voting. Early and absentee voting laws vary widely and are decided on a state level. All eligible voters should check with their states' local Secretary of State website for specific rules and instructions regarding voting on Election Day in their respective state or jurisdiction.
The list of 31 states that allow some form of ‘Early Voting' include: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

In a statement on its website, MSA National said: "With record turnout expected on Election Day 2008, we urge all college students to avail themselves of early voting in 31 states. For those students who do not have early voting in their states, we urge them to be a part of their local ‘Get-Out-The-Vote' voter drives to help increase voter turnout throughout the country."
MSA National, with over 200 affiliated chapters in the United States and Canada, was established in 1963. MSA National's goals are to empower Muslim students through educational programs, provide management training for local chapters, and serve as a broad platform for students of all backgrounds.
