12/29/08 - MSA National Condemns Recent Attacks on Gaza
(Washington DC, 12/29/08) The Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada (MSA National) calls on its members and chapters to join us in condemning the recent air strikes in the Gaza strip. We ask you to write your congressmen and senators, and urge them to ask Israel to reevaluate their actions and current stratagem.
The fifty year struggle for land, civility, and most importantly peace, has taken a sour turn this weekend with the largest act of violence in the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. In a grossly unbalanced and inhumane attack, Israel has dropped over 300 bombs destroying homes, business and infrastructure. An already derelict Gaza has been coping with an illegal blockade that has stifled supplies such as food, medicine, and oil into the region. The culmination of these events can only be regarded as appalling and inhumane, and as such needs to be condemned.
The conflict in the Middle East is perhaps one of the most significant events plaguing the globe and it affects all of us directly or indirectly in so many ways. It is important for us as Muslims to do all that we can to defend those who cannot defend themselves, and here in America we have the diplomatic means to do so. Act quickly - for these people do not have the luxury of time.
MSA National, with over 200 affiliated chapters in the United States and Canada, was established in 1963. MSA National's goals are to empower Muslim students through educational programs, provide management training for local chapters, and serve as a broad platform for students of all backgrounds. For more information on the program, please visit: www.msanational.org
