MSA National GOTV Coalition Goals
- Help turn-out the Muslim vote in the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections
- Encourage MSA students to be more involved in the political process
- Network, connect, and motivate aspiring Muslim political activists/future candidates
Coalition Members Expectations
Members of the MSA National GOTV Coalition will be the face of Muslim student political activism at the grassroots and national level. Coalition members will be responsible for:
- Running a GOTV on his / her respective campus
- Attending monthly training/update calls
- Attending an MSA National Muslim Politicians Symposium/Training in Washington, D.C. with other coalition members. Members will receive:
- MSA National Get Out the Vote Campaign training
- A chance to network with and learn from key politicians working in the Nation's Capital
- Providing regular updates to Asma Rehman, Political Action Task Force (PATF) Chair
- Tracking outcomes of their GOTV campaign
- Acting with the utmost professionalism at all times in a manner becoming of an MSA National GOTV Coalition member
While GOTV events will vary according to each MSA's ability, members will be highly encouraged to hold each one of the following on his/her campus:
- Voter Registration Drive
- MSA National Candidate Policy Guide distribution
- Candidate forum
- Phone banking
- Canvassing
- Reporting outcomes of the campaign after completion (Required)
MSA National GOTV Coalition Selection Process
If you'd like to join the MSA National GOTV Coalition and make a difference in the 2008 US Presidential Elections by laying the groundwork for future Muslim political activism, please download the application (DOC, 54KB), fill it out, and send it to .
Preference will be given to members of affiliated MSA chapters.
MSA National GOTV Coalition Selection Timeline:
- March 17, 2008: Call for Applications
- March 27, 2008: Round 1 Application Deadline
- April 14, 2008: Final Application Deadline
- March 27-April 16: Phone and In-Person interviews at MSA National Zonal Conferences
- April 17-April 20: Applicants Notified of PATF Decision
Tentative Schedule
MSA National GOTV Coalition Members will attend three (3) training conference calls, a symposium/training in Washington D.C., and a status meeting at the Continental Conference held parallel to the Annual ISNA Convention. The tentative schedule of events and activities are as follows:
